Click on the above thumbnails to see a build in progress. In this example, the existing style of brick was available, although the colour was off by a few shades. The existing colour on the chimney was in between colours. So we used what was in the middle of colours. Hmmm. In most cases a chimney with a distinctive top (colour wise) usually does not stand out. The reasoning is that it looks the part of the original design. The chimney was a partial rebuild with the top 10 coarses being redone. The coarses below where in good shape. Although the mortar was weak. So we encouraged the owner to grind and point the remainder of the chimney so that deterioration would not destroy the brick under the bricks that we just laid.
